With its streets and squares, Krakow is a fascinating traditional city that has long been the cultural and university center of Poland. American students are able to experience a European urban life style, while encountering the unique cultural traditions of Central Europe. Unlike Warsaw and many other Polish cities, Krakow was spared many of the ravages of World War II.
The city has been widely recognized for its significant efforts in historic preservation. In Krakow, over 40,000 students are enrolled in seven universities, making the city a vibrant center of learning and cultural events.
University of Tennessee students take classes at the Krakow University of Technology, a 10-minute walk from the city center. Classes for international students are held in English. The typical Polish architecture student does not have a design studio to work in. However, the Krakow University of Technology has provided the International studio with their own design studio space, close to the historic center of Krakow. Started before the fall of the Iron Curtain, our college has a 25 year history with architecture students studying in Krakow.
