Bonnie Casamassima is a lecturer in the School of Interior Architecture at the University of Tennessee, where she teaches at the intersection of interior architecture, well-being, and human-centered practice. Her teaching emphasizes environmental psychology, biophilic design, and intuition to foster wellness, belonging, and community connection. Her coursework blends research-based and experiential learning, bridging theory with real-world application and empathy. She is the founder of Intuitive by Nature, a consultancy advancing well-being through environmental psychology, primary intuition research, and mindfulness. Her current research explores how intuitive connection supports well-being, belonging, and leadership while nurturing relationships between people, communities, and environments. Casamassima joined the UT Knoxville faculty in 2024, bringing over a decade of experience in higher education and commercial environments. She has previously taught at Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) and the Art Institute of Atlanta, leading courses in environmental psychology, research methods, and design studios for undergraduate and graduate students. She holds a B.S. in Interior Design from the University of Tennessee and an M.F.A. from SCAD, where her thesis focused on restorative workplace design through the lens of environmental psychology. Her prior work with Gensler, Steelcase, and Southface focused on sustainability and well-being in workplace, healthcare, and learning environments. She currently serves on the board for PechaKucha Knoxville.
