Arts Huntsville, the local arts agency serving the City of Huntsville, AL, seeks a Public Art Program Manager to support the community’s growing public art initiatives and full implementation of the Huntsville Public Art Master Plan. The Public Art Program Manager is responsible for strategic development and day-to-day management of the agency’s public art projects and collection.

Key Job Duties
• Planning & Coordination: Coordinate meetings and activities of the Huntsville Public Art Committee; partner and coordinate with departments within the City of Huntsville, collaborate with the Public Art Committee, City of Huntsville, and Arts Huntsville Executive Director to establish the annual public art workplan to advance the goals of the Huntsville Public Art Master Plan.
• Project Development: Develop and manage all aspects of the commissioning of public art installations, including current, pending and future projects. Facilitate and manage partnerships with the City of Huntsville, outside agencies, community groups and organizations, and private development partners. Develop project goals and criteria, prepare and distribute RFQs and RFPs, coordinate the artist selection and contracting process, and facilitate interaction between the artists and commissioning agency, project design team, and community.
• Budgeting & Fiscal Management: Develop annual budget and project budgets in collaboration with Arts Huntsville Executive Director. Manage artist, vendor, and consultant contracts and monitor contract compliance.
• Collection Management: Establish and manage systems to track and maintain the City of Huntsville’s public art collection and all related public art records. Establish, coordinate and manage annual conservation and maintenance program.
• Community Outreach and Engagement: Develop and manage local artist professional development initiatives, partner with Arts Huntsville Equity and Engagement Manager to inclusively engage Huntsville’s diverse community in initiatives, activities, and events highlighting developing and established public art installations, and advocate for expanded public art investment.
• Communication, Publicity & Administration: Collaborate with Arts Huntsville team members to develop public relations, social media, and educational content related to Huntsville public art programs, projects, and initiatives. Supervise assigned staff, interns, and volunteers as available.

Qualifications and Requirements:
• Graduation from a four-year college or university with a major in art, architecture, arts administration, public administration, urban planning, or other closely related field.

• Ability to foster and maintain relations with artists, staff, board and committee members, city officials, partners, community members, and developers.
• Ability to manage multiple projects effectively in a fast-paced environment with high attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• Excellent communication ability, both written and verbal.
• Ability to analyze budgetary information and statistical and technical data.
• Experience in MS Office Suite and Google platforms and experience/interest in new technologies, programs, and software.
• Knowledge of artistic disciplines/media, visual art, and public art trends preferred.
• Experience managing public art projects, public art policy, and/or design and construction related project management preferred.
• Previous database or collections management experience preferred.
• Experience with IT troubleshooting helpful.
• Flexibility, teamwork, and positive, “can‐do” attitude essential; high degree of initiative required.

Employment Status: Full-Time Exempt Position

Compensation and Benefits: Position offers a competitive salary and benefits package commensurate with experience, including health insurance, 403-B plan, and generous paid holidays/paid time off.

Working Conditions:
