John McRae

John McRae served as Dean of The University of Tennessee College of Architecture and Design, July,  2005-July, 2011. During this timeframe the college thrived in numerous ways, including establishment of a Landscape Architecture Masters Program and recognition of undergraduate architecture among the top twenty programs in the country. In July, 2011, McRae rejoined the full-time teaching faculty of the college. Prior to UT McRae held the position of Senior Director, Grants and Development, American Institute Architects,October, 2003-July, 2005.  In this capacity, he oversaw the Institute Research Agenda and coordinated current activity and secured corporate sponsorship for Institute projects.  Prior to this role,  McRae held the position of Vice President, Education and Training, for RTKL Associates, Inc. from September, 2001, through August, 2003.   RTKL is an architectural/design services firm with offices worldwide.  In this position, he was responsible for development and implementation of a comprehensive program of education and professional development and enrichment for the firm.  An NCARB certified architect, Mr. McRae served as Dean of the School of Architecture at Mississippi State University for fourteen years prior to joining RTKL.  He earlier served on the teaching faculty and in administrative positions at the University of Florida, College of Architecture, for twenty years. McRae is a Past President (97-98) of the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture. McRae was active in professional practice in Florida from 1971-1987.
