May 23, 2022 Students Awarded for Research Projects in 2022 EURēCA Competition

In spring 2022, students in our college took part in an annual competition that showcases UT students’ research and creative activities in collaboration with faculty mentors. 

During the 2022 EURēCA (Exhibit of Undergraduate Research and Creative Achievement) event, hosted by the UT Office of Undergraduate Research in the Student Union Ballroom on April 25, our students earned multiple awards.

At the event, UT undergraduates presented poster displays and exhibits of their research projects and creative activities. Congratulations to these students from our undergraduate programs whose work was recognized:

 From the School of Architecture: 

  • First place: Zachary Dulin, Nicholas Van Son and Michael Jenks with faculty mentor Hansjöerg Göeritz
  • Second place: Nicholas Van Son, Carson Fischer and students from the Tickle College of Engineering, Jonah Zahn, Nik Xia, Stephen Kelley and Evan Filson with faculty mentor Marshall Prado 
  • Third place: Brendan Wallace with faculty mentor Jennifer Akerman 
  • Award of Excellence: Sarina Hermanto, Elijah Hale, Abigail Crawford and Keith Carter Jr. with faculty mentor Brian Ambroziak
  • Award of Excellence: Christina Ceniceros, KariBeth Propes and Camryn Weekly with faculty mentors Katherine Ambroziak and David Matthews

From the School of Interior Architecture:

  • First place: Olivia Robbins with faculty mentor Marie Saldaña

  • Second place: Elizabeth Tondreau, Yessenia White, Kellie Weeks, Katherine Warren, Hillary Tunnell, Summer Tessem, Emily Roach, Hannah Lessem, Madison Leebrick, Andrew Keys, Lauren Johnson, Hannah Hobbs, Autumn Hanks, Ashley Ebbert, Matthew Clayton, Alyssa Bond, Briahna Aderman and Jacob Abdu with faculty mentor David Matthews
  • Award of Excellence: Erin Ganserer with faculty mentor Milagros Zingoni

From the School of Design, Professor Cary Staples mentored these winners:

  • Leah Falin, first place for her research “Coping”
  • Jacqueline Juneau, Jake Hirschmann and Victoria Wheelock, first place for their research “Eco Chess”
  • Julie Simpson, Tanner Dunning and Avery Jones, first place for their research “Sundry”
  • Kennedy Davis and J’Anah Davis, Award of Excellence for their research “Bee Aware”
  • Kailey Kear, Award of Excellence for their research “Savor the Invasion”
  • Matt Rightsell, Award of Excellence for his research “Nudnik” 

Posters were judged based on exhibit content, display, narration, questions and answers and authenticity. Congratulations, students!
