April 19, 2021 Students, Faculty Receive Chancellor’s Awards

During the 2021 annual Chancellor’s Honors Banquet, UT Knoxville Chancellor Donde Plowman celebrated faculty, staff and students for their accomplishments and service, including students and faculty in the College of Architecture and Design.

Architecture students Zachary Orig and Arden Gillchrest, Interior Architecture student Isabel Ann Huisman and Architecture Asst. Professor Maged Guerguis were recognized during the April event.

Guerguis, assistant professor of Design and Structural Technology in the School of Architecture and the McCarty Holsaple McCarty Endowed Professor, received an Excellence in Teaching award. This award is bestowed by the Office of the Chancellor and the Teaching Council of the Faculty Senate to honor outstanding work in the classroom.

Zachary Orig, fifth-year Architecture student, received one of two Undergraduate Researcher of the Year awards for excellence in undergraduate research through independent inquiry, classes and student employment.

Arden Gillchrest, fifth-year Architecture student, received the Extraordinary Campus Leadership and Service award, which recognizes extraordinary campus leadership and significant service to others.

Isabel Ann Huisman, fourth-year Interior Architecture student, represented the college with a Top Collegiate Scholar award. This award honors undergraduates who exhibit extraordinary scholarship.
