October 1, 2014 College to Host Open House

The College of Architecture and Design will host an open house on Saturday, November 1

The event will give prospective undergraduate and graduate students the opportunity to learn about the college’s programs in interior design, landscape architecture, and architecture. It will coincide with the university’s open house event occurring that morning.

The open house is scheduled from 12:00 to 5:00 p.m. in UT’s Art and Architecture Building, 1715 Volunteer Blvd:

BBQ Lunch for all prospective students and their guests from 12:00-1:00 p.m.

Undergraduate Open House will run from 1:00-3:00 p.m.

Graduate Open House will run from 1:00-5:00 p.m. ending with a reception in downtown Knoxville.

Visitors can participate in facility tours, faculty presentations, and discussions with student leaders and program chairs.

The open house will give students from high schools and universities around the country the opportunity to meet current students and faculty and learn about the integrative hands-on experiences unique to the college’s programs.

Participants are encouraged to register online by October 28, but it will remain open until the day of the event.

This event will be open to all prospective students but will specifically focus on graduate and transfer student admissions.

STUDENT EXPERIENCE

Trips outside the studio are an important part of learning at the College of Architecture and Design. This past spring, students went to Los Angeles for a week to learn and prepare work for a client provided by our BarberMcMurry Professor Lawrence Scarpa, a pioneer in the practice of sustainable architecture and winner of over 50 international design awards, including the 2014 National Design Award for Architecture Design from the Smithsonian Cooper Hewitt.
