The School of Interior Architecture celebrates faculty and student accolades and accomplishments.
Recent national and international student awards distinguish our school, including Global Undergraduate Awards; four consecutive years of students placing first and second in the national Gensler Brinkmann Scholarship competition; Formica International competition; and Metropolis Magazine Top 100.
Faculty are also recipients of national and international awards, including the IDEC Teaching Excellence Award, the IIDA Diversity Educator of the Year award, the AIA Educator of the year award, NOMA Phil Freelon Award, and prestigious residencies including a residency at the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft and a residency in Italy.

Students
Our school has now 181 students with the largest enrollment in first and second years.
Three students won national and international recognition in competitions.
Two students presented their research at international conferences.
Our students received $56,000 in scholarships.
Faculty
Our faculty received $137,000 in external research grants and $23,000 in internal grants.
Our faculty disseminated their knowledge in more than 20 different peer-reviewed venues.
Together
Second- and fourth-year students participated in pilot studies with universities in Argentina and Romania.
Fourth-year students did their first design/build project.
We launched the ONE Community of Learners series with speakers from London, Chicago and Los Angeles, as well as from Arizona and Tennessee.
We are inspired by our vision to form and empower change-makers by design. We aspire to be the change we want to see by providing our students the tools to develop conceptual frameworks for everyday challenges, to synthesize information, and to apply creative practice for the public good. Our school facilitates learning to produce high quality, life-long learners.
We are determined to become more permeable; develop opportunities for internal and external partnerships; disseminate knowledge; leverage education in interior architecture to better our community; and empower our students, faculty, and staff to have humane and global competency that is inclusive and just.
