April 20, 2021 AIA Awards UT Alumnus a 2021 Young Architects Award
Local Firm Also Earns National Award
A UT College of Architecture and Design alumnus was recently named a recipient of the American Institute of Architects 2021 Young Architects Award.
Among the 20 recipients for 2021, the college’s Michael Davis (’08 B.Arch) was chosen. The Young Architects Award is given to individuals who have demonstrated considerable leadership and made notable contributions to the architecture profession early in their careers.
Davis’s talent and dedication to his craft along with his experience and accomplishments contributed to the award.
As a student at UT, Davis received the AIA’s Henry Adams Medal for his outstanding achievements. He has been a member of the AIA since 2012 and rose into a leadership role on the AIA East Tennessee Board of Directors in 2019. In this role, he is leading the organization through developing its strategic plan.
Davis currently is employed at Sanders Pace Architecture in Knoxville. At the firm, he has played a major role in many large-scale projects, including the design of the new headquarters for a Knoxville full-service advertising agency.
Sanders Pace received a 2021 Architecture Award from AIA for their project, Loghaven Artist Residency. The project reflects the firm’s ability to listen to their clients to create architecture that serves the users and respects the site.
