As an alum of the CoAD’s 4+2 program and experience in woodworking, Patrick seeks to instill in students a love of multiscalar design, material emotion and an attention to detail relative to personal proxemics, large scale landscape conditions and everything in between. Drawing from his studies and travels in Japan, alongside a deep connection to Appalachian culture, he encourages students to explore architecture as a reflection of shared cultural values and a spiritual relationship to place—themes that transcend time and geography. When he’s not teaching, Patrick works independently on residential and landscape design projects around town. He also keeps busy with running, time with loved ones, and drawing up whatever obsession has taken hold that week
