Section Cut: Digital Deployment Workshop
September 19, 2014 @ 8:00 am - September 21, 2014 @ 5:00 pm
Join the College of Architecture and Design in its collaboration with Section Cut, a collection of “the most savvy design professionals on the planet” who will be offering digital skills workshops to work at the cutting edge in the allied design fields.
There will be 8 workshops this year, 4 in the Fall and 4 in the Spring. The workshops will occur on a Friday evening, Saturday, and part of Sunday. The first two workshops will take place on September 19-21 and September 26-28. There are limited seats in each workshop, so we urge you to sign up by going to http://sectioncut.com/utk/. Use the password scutk to access the sign up form.
The workshops will be led by a cohort of recent graduates of schools of architecture that operate the website, sectioncut.com. These young people are skilled, talented and eager to make connections with our students. Check out their website to get a feel for what they will bring to you, http://sectioncut.com/.
about
The first workshop will introduce and explore the relationship between a physical object/topography and a corresponding digital model of that physical entity. Translation between the two will be a particular focus. The Section Cut team will introduce you to 123D apps by Autodesk and ways you can translate from a physical condition via digital photography into softwares such as Rhino. They will help you understand the process for this translation and encourage you to explore the translation of that original condition through manipulating it as a digital file.
