On March 29, we will welcome Maya Bird-Murphy, founder and executive director of Chicago Mobile Makers, for a dialogue entitled, “Making Design Accessible, One Student at a Time.” The dialogue, which is part of TAAST, will take place at 5:30 p.m. in Rm. 109/McCarty Auditorium.

The presentation will suggest that for far too long, architecture has been inaccessible to most people, whether it’s architectural services, becoming an architect or experiencing architecture first-hand. Architectural designer, Maya Bird-Murphy, founded Mobile Makers to address the lack of diversity in the design fields and injustice in the built environment. She will share her journey through architecture and the creation of her nonprofit and discuss why it’s important to engage communities during the design process and have a diverse group of people at the design table.
