Lecture: Avigail Sachs

No costThe College of Architecture and Design continues its 2016-2017 Robert B. Church Memorial Lecture Series on Monday, Nov. 7, with Avigail Sachs, assistant professor of architecture.
Sachs will present “Theories of Action: Modern Architecture in the United States” beginning at 5:30 p.m. in Rm. 109, McCarty Auditorium, Art + Architecture Building, 1715 Volunteer Blvd.
This lecture is free and open to the public. It offers continuing education units and will be streamed live.
Sachs teaches landscape and architectural history and theory and studies the design profession in the United States. Her most recent project, Atlelier TVA: Designers in the Great Depression, earned her the College of Architecture and Design James Johnson Dudley Faculty Scholar Award in 2015.
Sachs holds degrees from the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology, Massachusetts Institute of Technology and University of California, Berkeley. Prior to beginning her doctoral studies, Sachs taught design studio for several years at the Technion. Concurrently, she worked as a project architect for the Sail Tower in Haifa, Israel.
Over 42 years, the UT College of Architecture and Design has hosted some 280 leading architects and design professionals through its Robert B. Church Memorial Lecture Series to enrich the education of its students and elevate the profession in the community.
