Lecture: Nate Imai

Join us for a public lecture, titled “How’s the Weather? Building Small Talk Between Digital and Physical Environments,” by Nate Imai from the UT College of Architecture and Design on Monday, April 1, 2019.

Imai’s lecture will focus on his research that explores the intersection of data and the built environment. His research examines the impact of digital and physical contexts on contemporary modes of practice and pedagogy in design. He will draw on examples of his students’ work as well as his own images from his research to discuss opportunities for design education to build on the relationships between our digital and physical terrains.

Imai is a Lecturer and Adjunct Assistant Professor and the 2018-2019 Tennessee Architecture Fellow at the University of Tennessee College of Architecture and Design. Imai received a Bachelor of Arts in Architectural Studies from UCLA and a Master’s in Architecture from the Harvard University Graduate School of Design. He taught previously at Woodbury University in Los Angeles, where he was a 2017-18 WUHO Fellow. His previous work experience includes Michael Maltzan Architecture, Höweler + Yoon, Daly Genik Architects, and Imai Keller Moore Architects.

This lecture is funded by the Robert B. Church Memorial Lecture fund. Unless otherwise noted, lectures begin at 5:30 p.m. in Rm. 109/McCarty Auditorium in the Art + Architecture Building, 1715 Volunteer Blvd. All are welcome.
