Join us for the Public Interiority Symposium hosted by our School of Interior Architecture on Saturday, Feb. 18, 2023, 9 a.m.-6 p.m. The symposium will be held at the Art + Architecture Building, 1715 Volunteer Blvd., and attendees should RSVP.

RSVP for the symposium.

Check out the schedule for the Public Interiority Symposium.

By bringing together designers and scholars from various design backgrounds, geographies and experiences, the Public Interiority Symposium + Exhibition will establish a global platform to investigate outdoor urban conditions of interiority—a condition generated by atmospheres, programs, politics and psychological factors. The program aims to foster an environment for exchanging ideas, sharing creative works and envisioning a holistic approach to designing conditional interiors.

Speakers

The symposium welcomes Suzie Attiwill as keynote speaker. Attiwill is professor of Interior Design in the School of Architecture & Urban Design at RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia. Other speakers include Amy Roehl, Grace Ong Yang, Lindsey Krug, Marcin Kedzior, Najia Javaid and Rana Abudayyeh.

Learn more about Attiwill and all of the symposium’s speakers.

The symposium will be best experienced in-person, but for those who live out of town and cannot make it to Knoxville for the in-person event, a livestream option is available.

Exhibition

Along with the symposium, the School of Interior Architecture is hosting the Public Interiority Exhibition at the Ewing Gallery of Art + Architecture, Jan. 17-Feb. 18, 2023. Both the symposium and exhibition are free and open to the public.
