URBAN PLAY (1-7)
7 SITES / 14 PROPOSALS
Instructor: Marleen Kay Davis FAIA
Students selected one of seven different sites for a new home for either the Ice Bears Hockey Team or the Smokies Minor League Baseball Team. As part of the design research, students tried to program the new facility in such a way that the new design contributed to urban life throughout the year, not just on game days. Sites were strategically located on under-utilized land near exisiting or future pedestrian networks and greenways connected to Downtown Knoxville.
URBAN HIGH SCHOOL (8)
North Gay Street
Instructor: Michael Davis, Assoc. AIA, LEED AP
Students researched recent educational trends and developed programs for an innovative high school related to the design arts and architecture. Four proposals demonstrate the potential of North Gay Street.
