Chachi is a sculptor, industrial designer and educator currently teaching Furniture Design within the College of Architecture and Design. Working across an array of scales, his work explores the collaborative relationships between species, materials, processes, and time. Chachi makes use of traditional materials, novel fabrication strategies, emergent computer-based tools and a multitude of processes to create functional objects and spaces. Integrating craft, materiality and minimalism, he uses a sculptural approach to fuse function and form. Working with friends, he co-founded the Los Angeles design company California Carts, as well as international design group Critical Plus Design. His work has shown at the Milan Furniture Fair, the Institute of Contemporary Art/Boston, Gallery Libby Sellers and the MUDAC in Lausanne, Switzerland.
