Minor in Graphic Design Studies

In the interdisciplinary Graphic Design Studies minor, you'll learn concepts and modes of visual communication without the intensive studio. In only 15 hours, you'll have gained a key skillset that sets you apart in virtually any profession.

Open to UT UG Students

The Graphic Design Studies minor will enhance your major field of study with an understanding of graphic design. It is open to undergraduate students at UT with a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5 and who have a declared major outside of the School of Design.

The minor is a total of 15 credit hours: Nine are required Graphic Design classes, and the remaining six credit hours should come from the list of electives. The required courses are offered in online asynchronous modality. Please familiarize yourself with the required and elective courses.

Application to the minor is available via the online Graphic Design Studies minor application form. Completing the form declares your intention to undertake the minor. Within 2-3 weeks after submitting the form, the minor will appear on your DARS. Questions can be directed to schoolofdesign@utk.edu.
