Landscape Architecture Career Trajectories

After graduation our students are pursuing careers in professional landscape architecture offices as well as other landscape-related firms and organizations in which their wide range of creative and communicative skills are in demand.

Our students are employed nationally and internationally. We have an ever-increasing footprint in the United States and are constantly working with our Center for Student Development to forge new connections with firms looking for future leaders in the field.

Internships

During their course of study at UTLA, students are provided with multiple opportunities to engage in internships with our growing network of professional design offices, research organizations, non-profits, and design build firms, among others. The following is a partial list of organizations that have hosted UTLA student interns:

 

Externships

Interested students at UTLA are able to pursue an externship with a growing network of offices across the country. An externship is generally a one to two week period during which a student works in an office to gain a better understanding of the professional design office environment as well as how contemporary designers work. Students generally target the winter break of their second or third year of the MLA degree to pursue these opportunities. Currently, UTLA has externship relationships with the following firms, and we are always working with additional firms to try and give our students a wide range of offices to choose from:
