A memorial service has been set for Jon and Janet Summers.

Jon R. Summers, AIA, and his wife, Janet, perished in the wildfires that swept through the Gatlinburg area in November 2016.  Their three sons survived and have been treated for severe burns and injuries.

Summers earned a B.Arch from UT in 1979, and after graduation, he began a successful, 37-year career.  In late 2007, Summers accepted a position with the award-winning architecture and design firm, brg3s in Memphis, serving as a principal architect for more than nine years.  At brg3s, he designed, improved and transformed a number of local healthcare facilities.

Summers, a devoted family man, enjoyed time with his wife and sons. He and his wife were avid supporters of their sons’ music careers, and he enjoyed golf, which he played with his brothers as often as he could.

A memorial service has been scheduled:

Saturday, Jan. 28, 1 p.m.

Woodmont Christian Church

3601 Hillsboro Pike, Nashville

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.

The family has established a formal trust at SunTrust Bank for the benefit of Jon and Janet Summers’ sons.  All proceeds from all benefits, web funding and direct donations will be placed into the trust.  Direct donations can be made to Summers Brothers Trust, c/o Jim Summers, 80 Monroe Ave., Suite 650, Memphis, TN 38103.
