David-Epstein-Alumnus

David Epstein, a graduate of the University of Tennessee School of Architecture, has been recognized with the 2014 Don Brinkmann Award. The accolade recognizes outstanding individuals whose contributions to Gensler have raised the firm’s standards of design excellence. Honorees are vetted as individuals who bring “exemplary talent, tireless design leadership and vision to the firm.”

From the announcement provided by Gensler:

David Epstein, AIA, LEED AP, serves as a Principal and Design Director in Gensler’s Austin office. With over fifteen years with Gensler, Epstein has a prolific and award-winning portfolio of work that touches every sector, from office buildings to corporate headquarters, mixed-use towers and complexes, airport terminals, transit stations, university buildings, and community and cultural facilities.

“David is not afraid to think outside the box and stretch the rubber band without breaking it,” said Regional Managing Principals Judy Pesek and David Calkins. “His dry wit and ‘even keeled’ approach bring a committed calmness to the impeccable delivery of his work. He is a visual 3-D thinker, a problem solver and a ‘quick study.’ David’s design is holistic, keeping in mind the needs of the client, imbuing the project with a distinct sense of place and carrying through a disciplined design intent. He is a true thought leader.”

As a design leader in the Southeast and South Central regions, Epstein has inspired a cohort of Gensler colleagues to design work of their own that exhibits the strong, convincing form and exceptional attention to detail that are his hallmark. He has mentored and inspired excellence in a new generation of design leaders. His energetic and creative spirit is visible in buildings around the world that display the design innovation that is the firm’s conscious goal.
