Begin your interior architecture education at UT!

Program Overview   

The Bachelor of Science in Interior Architecture is a four-year program that leads to professional practice upon graduation. 

We have three paths to provide greater opportunity for your career goals. In addition to the BSIA, we offer two additional degree options to prepare students for an accelerated master’s degree in either architecture or landscape architecture. 

Degree Track 

BSIA – Traditional Track
BSIA – Master of Architecture Preparatory Track 
BSIA – Master of Landscape Architecture Preparatory Track 

First-Year Courses  

The first year focuses on design fundamentals, moving through conceptual, abstract and experimental exercises that challenge preconceived ideas about space and form. 

Fall 

Students can anticipate accruing up to 15 credit hours in this semester. 

ARCH 171 Design I: Spatial Order I
ARCH 123 Representation I: Visual Logic and Perception
IARC 101/107 Introduction to the Spatial Experience
IARC 221 Theory of Color, supporting a student’s arts and humanities requirement
ENGL 101, supporting a student’s written communication requirement
MATH 113 or 125, supporting a student’s quantitative reasoning requirement 

Spring 

Students can anticipate accruing up to 15 credit hours in this semester.

ARCH 124 Representation II: Intention and Communication
IARC 200 Human-Environment Relations, supporting a student’s social sciences requirement
ENGL 102 or equivalent, supporting a student’s written communication requirement
