September 30, 2019 Construction Causes Detours to Fab Lab

The city of Knoxville and Tennessee Department of Transportation are beginning long-term construction on roads near the Fab Lab, so some routes to the Fab Lab will change:

• The Broadway bridge/viaduct will be demolished and replaced. This work is expected to be completed in 2021.
• Both Jackson Avenue ramps (east and west) will be demolished and replaced. This work should be completed in 2020.

The Fab Lab is located at 525 N. Gay Street. Not all GPS platforms are recognizing the construction. Here are some detour options:

For those who normally take Broadway to get to the Fab Lab:

• Detour Option 1:
  • Cumberland Avenue
  • North on Gay Street
  • See parking info below

• Detour Option 2:
  • Cumberland Avenue
  • North on Henley Street
  • East on W. Summit Hill Drive
  • North on Gay Street
  • See parking info below

• Detour Option 3:
  • North on 17^th Street
  • East on Dale Avenue NW
  • Dale Avenue becomes Blackstock Avenue
  • East on 5^th Avenue
  • See parking info below

Neyland Drive

• The routes via Neyland Drive are not affected by the construction.

Parking

To access Fab Lab parking from North Gay Street or South Central Street:

1. West on Fifth Avenue
2. South on Broadway
3. Immediately enter the parking lot on the left
