Lally Discusses Energy as Architecture
October 26, 2015 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm
No costUT to Host Author Sean Lally to Discuss Energy as Architecture
Sean Lally, architect and author, will present a lecture, “The Air from Other Planets,” as part of the UT College of Architecture and Design’s Church Lecture Series.
The lecture will be held Monday, Oct. 26, at 5:30 p.m., in McCarty Auditorium in the Art and Architecture Building, 1715 Volunteer Boulevard. A brief reception will be held before the lecture.
Lally recently published a book, The Air from Other Planets: A Brief History of Architecture to Come, which describes architecture that is produced by designing the energy within our environment. He is the founder of WEATHERS LLC, a Chicago-based company that builds teams of architects, landscape architects, engineers and researchers to explore new opportunities for designing and building.
Lally’s lecture, which is free and open to the public, seeks to place architecture at the center of today’s pressures to engage and inform the industries and policies that will give shape to our environment, our bodies and the spaces we call architecture. Lally posits that two of the greatest pressures on society today include humanity’s manipulation of the environment and the advancements in bioengineering of the human body. Existing at this intersection are the physical boundaries that create architectural space.
The lecture will be streamed live and offers participants continuing education units.
