2015 Lecture Series: Kiel Moe
September 21, 2015 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm
Visiting Lecturer Discusses Energy in Design
On Monday, Sept. 21, 5:30 p.m., Architect Kiel Moe, Asst. Professor of Architectural Technology at Harvard University Center for the Environment, will present “Our Model of Models” at the University of Tennessee College of Architecture and Design. The lecture will take place in the McCarty Auditorium in the Art and Architecture Building, 1715 Volunteer Boulevard, and all UT students, faculty and staff as well as members of the community are invited to attend. This lecture is free of charge and offers continuing education units. It will be streamed live, and audience members will have the opportunity to meet Moe at a short reception immediately preceding the lecture.
Moe is an innovative leader in theories, techniques and technologies for energy and maximum power design. He will discuss how the tools of modeling and visualizing energy sometimes result in limited design outcomes and suggest an opportunity for architects and other designers to explore energy in comprehensive ways to maximize the thermodynamic depth of architecture.
For more than 40 years, the college has invited leading experts to speak in Knoxville to provide students and professionals remarkable opportunities to gain unique perspectives on the history, theory and practice of design disciplines. The Sept. 21 lecture is part of the UT College of Architecture and Design’s Fall 2015 Robert B. Church III Lecture Series, which also includes the following lectures this fall:
Sept. 28: Jerry Van Eyck, !melk: Identity is not Imitation
