AIAS South Quad Conference: Maker Squad

Our AIAS Chapter invites you to join us for the South Quad regional conference, Maker Squad, on Apr. 4-7.

More than 300 students, representing 50 schools across 11 states and territories, will be in attendance to learn more about being a “maker” in one of the best-known Maker Cities. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet peers in architecture from across the region while attending workshops and meeting local makers around Knoxville.

Registration is open.

Keynote speakers include

  • Jack Neely _ Becoming a Maker City
  • Brandon Pace _ Work of Sanders Pace Architecture
  • Corie Sharples _ SHoP’s work in Knoxville

Hands-on workshops and panels include (this list will continue to grow!):

  • Film
  • Building-information management and virtual reality
  • Metalworking
  • Glass-fiber-reinforced concrete
  • Ceramics
  • Materials sourcing and sustainability

Tours include

  • Oak Ridge National Laboratory
  • Norris Dam

The South Quad Conference is hosted annually by an AIAS Chapter within the southeastern region. UT was selected by the chapters of the southeast to host the spring 2019 conference.
