2016 Annual Report

A year that included a 50th anniversary celebration, 2016 not only gave us reason to celebrate our history, but it also challenged us all to consider Year 51 and beyond.

The year was marked with a 50th anniversary celebration that engaged more than 750 alumni, significant faculty achievements, student successes, a milestone for our design/build program and a Top 10 ranking. We experienced increases in undergraduate applications, out-of-state enrollments and ACT scores of incoming School of Architecture freshmen.

Challenges noted in the report include the need for student scholarships and internships, funding for the purchase of the Fab Lab building, long-term industry partners and more.

In addition to celebrating the successful year and laying a foundation for future success, the 2016 annual report also is one way we say, “Thank you” to friends, families and alumni. 3D-printed structure and vehicle that create and share energy

AMIE

AMIE (Additive Manufacturing Integrated Energy) is one of the largest 3D-printed, energy-harvesting systems in the world...and it was designed and built by students, faculty, designers and scientists right here in the Governor’s Chair for Energy + Urbanism.

Our 50th Anniversary

Our anniversary featured class reunions, tours, golf tournament, General Shale keynote lecture by Thom Mayne, cocktail event and a splendid celebration at the Knoxville Museum of Art.
