2018 Annual Report

One of the words we’d use to describe 2018 is “momentum.” We are growing and making bigger and more important impacts on our world.

In 2018, our students and faculty investigated the Tennessee River, Mother Earth, downtowns of cities in Tennessee, West Virginia and more.  Their designs were innovative and future looking.  The innovation in our studios included an increased use of the incredible technology available to our students, and we welcomed a new “resident” in the Fab Lab, a $400,000 robot with which students will learn new fabrication and design skills.

During the year, we announced that Graphic Design will join our college in 2019.  We look forward to welcoming the students and faculty, who will broaden our reach and elevate the creative culture in our college.

Our 2018 annual report tells the story of an extraordinary year—an award-winning, transformational, exciting and legacy-building year.  It also conveys the challenges we face as we continue to do what’s best for our students.

Our future is brighter than ever as we look forward to new opportunities to transform the world through design.

To our stakeholders...

Our annual report is more than a striking portfolio of a year.  It is a way for us to share our successes and challenges with those who have a stake in our success.  The report allows us to convey a sincere “thank you” to you, our friends, donors, alumni and other stakeholders.

On behalf of our students, faculty and staff, thank you for your continued support and advocacy.

Protecting and Celebrating the Tennessee River

Upon opening the 2018 annual report, you’ll find something perhaps unexpected, an inserted map of the Tennessee River that depicts the Tennessee RiverLine.  We hope you’ll review the map to learn more about the RiverLine, America’s next great regional trail, and how our students and faculty are directing the development of the trail with the incredible support of partners in the Tennessee RiverLine Partnership.
