Open House Welcome! We're glad you're here.

Spring Open House Cancelled.

The health of our Volunteer family and the surrounding communities remains our top priority. Due to COVID-19, UT has restricted travel and events. Because of these restrictions, the College of Architecture and Design is cancelling our open house on April 4, and UT’s on-campus tours have been cancelled through April 5.

We hope you will register for Big Orange Preview on April 25. During Big Orange Preview, you will have the chance to visit our college, or you are welcome to schedule an individual college visit after April 5 by calling 865-974-5265 or responding to this e-mail.

Thank you for helping us do our part to protect the health of the community.  Stay informed of UT’s response to COVID-19.  This website is updated daily, including any possible further changes to events. And be sure to check www.archdesign.utk.edu to learn more about our college.

Twice a year, we welcome future Vols for Life and their families during fall and spring Open Houses.

Although you can schedule a visit anytime, coming during Open House lets you experience the place and atmosphere with other potential students, many of whom just might be your best friends in a few years.

Open House events give you and your family the opportunity to learn about our programs in Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Interior Architecture, and starting in Fall 2019, Graphic Design. You’ll meet current students (the best time to ask those questions you have, like “What’s it like to present your design during reviews” or “How hard is this, really” or “Where is the best pizza on campus”), and you’ll have the chance to tour the amazing Fab Lab, our downtown maker space equipped with more technology than you can imagine, all there for your use.

During Open House, you’ll learn about

You’ll also meet the staff of the Center for Student Development, who become your go-to people while you’re a student here, as well as the directors of the schools and some of our stellar professors and students.

To make this even better, as if that’s possible, you get to enjoy a complimentary lunch, usually incredible barbecue from a local smokehouse.

And in the summer...

High school students are encouraged to attend our summer Design Matters! Camp, a week-long immersion in design education in Big Orange Country.
