Schedule a Visit
We can’t wait to meet you and introduce you to the College of Architecture and Design and your future.
We offer three ways to visit us:
1. College Visit
If you want to visit us without also taking an official tour of UT campus, welcome! Simply call us at 865-974-5265 to schedule a visit.
Our tours are offered on Mondays and Fridays at 10:30 a.m.*
During your visit, you and your family will meet with someone from our Center for Student Development, who will answer all of your questions and show you our award-winning building.
*if your travel plans cannot accommodate the above times, please call our office to see if other arrangements can be made.
2. Campus Tour + College Visit
To get the full Volunteer Experience, plan a time when you can visit the college AND the incredible UT campus!
First, plan your campus tour through Undergraduate Admissions and tell the folks in the tour office that you’re interested in visiting with us, too. They’ll set it up for you, and we’ll be ready to welcome you.
During your visit to our college, you and your family will meet with someone from our Center for Student Development, who will answer all of your questions and show you our award-winning Art + Architecture Building.
Your campus-wide tour starts at the UT Visitors Center at 2712 Neyland Drive, Knoxville, TN, 37996.
While tours of our college are available only Monday-Friday, you can tour UT campus also on Saturday. These tours begin at the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at 320 Student Services Building, Knoxville, TN 37996 (on Circle Park Drive, behind the Torchbearer statue).
Remember: Tours of the College of Architecture and Design are offered on Mondays and Fridays at 10:30 a.m.
3. Open House
If you’d rather visit us during Open House, please do. Once each semester, we host an Open House for high school students and those in college looking toward graduate school. This event gives you the opportunity to learn about our programs in Architecture, Interior Architecture, Landscape Architecture and Graphic Design and our minors, including Industrial Design. You’ll learn from presentations by our faculty and have the opportunity to talk to the directors of our three schools and student leaders.
Open House occurs once each semester and is well attended, so we ask you to RSVP. For more information, please email Julie Beckman. Plus, follow us on Facebook and Twitter (@utkcoad).
Haven’t declared a major?
Considering transferring into the college?
UT students who have not declared a major and those looking to transfer into a different major are invited to learn about careers in design during our Transfer Information Sessions each fall and spring. Follow us on Facebook and Twitter (@utkcoad) or visit archdesign.utk.edu for dates and links to RSVP. We’ll also post the announcements on Vol Update and other UT news sources.
Not only does a degree from our college lay the groundwork for careers in architecture, interior architecture, landscape architecture and graphic design, but it also can lead to careers in the movie and animated film industry, video game and software design, construction management, law and policy development and more. The college integrates research, service and interdisciplinary training to prepare students for a successful career in any number of fields.
Questions? Email Julie Beckman in our Center for Student Development.
No matter if you visit during a campus tour, on your own or during Open House, here are the steps to getting here:
Park in Lot 23, which is behind our impressive concrete-and-glass building. To get to the parking lot, travel on Volunteer Boulevard (or Andy Holt Avenue) to Pat Summitt Drive and enter the lot.
You’ll need a parking pass, so go to Rm. 224 (second floor) and ask for Amber, who will have a pass ready for you. Return to your vehicle and place the parking pass on your dash. (We wish we could send you a pass in advance, but alas, we cannot.)
Now it’s time to meet! Enter Rm. 103 (first floor), and find us on the right. Our door decal says, “College of Architecture and Design Student Services Center.” Welcome!
You can’t really know a place until you visit it, so plan your visit today. We look forward to meeting you!
