Happening now...Families are gathered here at the Happening now...Families are gathered here at the A+A today for the Summer Design Camp 2022 Exhibit, showcasing the creativity our campers have designed over the past week. Campers expanded their knowledge of spatial design, isolating a volume of space, building 3D models to full-scale sizes and refining their designs on the urban scale. They honed their skills in teamwork, observation, design sketching, site surveying, orthographic drafting, digital/VR modeling and so much more! We are so happy to share our passion for design with our campers. Want to learn more about our college? archdesign.utk.edu/study/

Today, campers are diving into the world of VR to explore their 3D models from a new perspective and understand their space on a variety of scales from intimate moment to the urban scale. As our campers work together to combine their models into a cityscape structure, they will begin to better understand spatial composition through both physical and digital modeling. What a great new way to learn about space and 3D modeling!

Our campers are using orthographic drafting and architectural analysis to create full-scale models of designed representations of the space they documented while out on their tour of the campus and city. They are getting hands-on experience with scale model construction and are learning how designers represent space with abstract 3D models and drawings. Look at this amazing work! Keep up the good work campers! archdesign.utk.edu

Our campers also explored UT campus and the architectural wonders of downtown Knoxville to practice observing and sketching architectural spaces. Their observations, site surveys and architectural analysis will serve as the foundation for the 3D models they will build this week, but even more, these experiences will help them grow as designers.
