This month, we’ve shared a sneak peek into the s This month, we’ve shared a sneak peek into the spring design projects of our Master of Architecture students by viewing some of the work from their fall proposals. Through their independent research, our students produce provocative work that grapples with architecture’s agency in the emerging world as they examine thematic issues deeply relevant to architecture. We salute our professors, who are guiding the students: Rana Abudayyeh, Jennifer Akerman, Lauren Buntemeyer, Tim Dolan, Richard-Allen Foster, Carl Lostritto, Jeremy Magner, Scottie McDaniel, Tracy Moir-McClean, Marshall Prado, Micah Rutenberg, Avigail Sachs, Mark Stanley, Scott Wall and Kathy Wheeler.

Sneak peek into our Master of Architecture final d Sneak peek into our Master of Architecture final design projects…To take a sneak peek at the Master of Architecture students’ final spring design projects, we’re sharing work from their fall proposals. Enjoy this glimpse at the design proposals from Danielle Lanier and Rachel Paganelli.
.
Danielle Lanier: The Left Behind.
Our surroundings are a compilation of history and have accumulated memory over time. Many of the cities and spaces we occupy have held generations of stories and witnessed events present day society can only read about in literature. However, fragments of these lives have been left behind in the form of memory and debris deposited within the fabric of our landscape. This thesis aims to examine how architecture can begin to re-imagine the way in which we approach traditional notions of a museum typology. It also challenges traditional notions of architectural preservation that play a role in objectifying history rather than occupying it. By examining architecture of war, post conflict, I hope to gain insight on the morality, memory and value associated with territory.
.
Rachel Paganelli: Intelligence in Architectural Practice | Modus Operandi: A Look Inside the Future.
This thesis will speculate on the future role of architects as machine learning technology is implemented into design tools. The work will employ a variety of representation methods to visually communicate the importance of an Architect’s authority. The tools and networks help optimize processes in order to create drawings and spaces but lack the ability to measure qualitative aspects of space. The role of the Architect will then shift from executor of the tools to a surveyor of operations.
