Education
Academically, he received a B.S. degree Magna Cum Laude from The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and an M.S. degree from East Tennessee State University, where his research focused primarily on the correlative association of foundational studies among multidisciplinary design education disciplines. For over fifteen years he has had the opportunity to serve as an instructor in university design programs. Tim has had multiple article publications and lectured both domestically and internationally. His teaching has covered senior design studios to architectural study tours including visits to London, England, the International Home Furnishings Market in High Point, NC, and NeoCon World’s Trade Fair in Chicago, IL. A student favorite, he structures his classes with hands-on learning, industry experience, high expectations, and healthy doses of fun.
Expertise & Interests
Professionally, his varied experiences have prepared him well. Most recently, he has completed a series of design-build projects. Previous projects involved new construction, addition and renovation of over forty long-term care, assisted living and retirement facilities, with an average value of two million dollars; functioning primarily as project coordinator for a management and development company. Geographically, his projects have covered the east coast and central states. Prior experience includes hospitality design, educational facilities, corporate offices, churches, as well as corporate identity and branding.

He has held professional memberships in the International Interior Design Association [IIDA], the American Society of Interior Designers [ASID], the Interior Design Educator’s Council [IDEC] and the International Code Council [ICC].
